Prayers for Sudan

For the new government in Southern Sudan that President Salva Kiir may bring reconciliation to the people and thus be representative of and supported by all southern Sudanese.

For implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Act to be carried out with integrity and transparency so that all Sudanese will benefit.

For our country's leaders so that the United States government will:

       Avoid closer political ties with the Government of Sudan until a just peace is achieved throughout the country and resume normal relations only if Khartoum continues to comply with the peace agreements;

       Use its leadership in helping the Sudanese people to grant forgiveness, further reconciliation and achieve justice in a manner meaningful to those who have suffered.

For multilateral involvement of the European Union, African Union, and United Nations Security Council with the United States in taking a stronger stance to
stop the continuing genocide in Darfur and to enforce the peace in South Sudan.

For God's intervention in the lives of the people of Darfur who continue to suffer unspeakable human rights abuses.  Allow them to go to the Abuja negotiations as a united peoples to attain a just and lasting peace in their region.

For God's grace in the eastern region
of Sudan so another genocide will not arise.

For the Islamic leaders of the Government of Sudan, that their hearts may be opened by compassion and that they will be led to stop the Holocaust. That in God's ways, these enemies, whom we are commanded to love, would become aware of His deep love for them and the war Jesus already has fought for them, personally on the cross.

That we seize opportunities for rebuilding Sudan by strengthening the local church as it seeks to guide its people from a culture of war to a culture of tolerance, compassion and peace.
