Washington Street Presbyterian Church will hold its final worship service on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. This will be a Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving for the ministry of this congregation.
Washington Street was organized in 1886 in Abbeville, SC. The present building dates back to 1906. The last installed pastor left the church in 1989. Since that time Washington Street has relied on pulpit supply. The church sits on 1/16 of an acre and parking has always been an issue...not to mention lack of room to expand. But this story has a happy ending! Washington Street folks will join up with New Faith New Church Development in nearby Greenwood, SC. There, the ministry will continue - there, the Word will still be preached - there, everyone will experience a new vibrancy of mission.
